Our customers are using Halter to break free from the time-intensive constraints of conventional practices. Our team out-think, out-work and out-care. We're committed to delivering real change in the world - this isn't easy, and in truth, we love that it's hard.
We're backed by Tier 1 investors including Founders Fund, Bessemer Venture Partners, BOND, DCVC, Blackbird, Promus Ventures, Rocket Lab's Peter Beck and Icehouse Ventures.
About the role
As the leading provider of virtual fencing technology, Halter is on a mission to enable 50% of the world's landmass to be more productive and sustainable. This role is paramount for our growth aspirations and will enable us to continue making an impact on ranches across the US.
As a Territory Manager at Halter, you will play a critical role in driving new business growth and ensuring customer success within your designated territory. You will be responsible for executing sales strategies, building strong customer relationships, and meeting ambitious growth targets, all while acting as Halter's on-the-ground representative. This role requires a proactive and hands-on approach, with a focus on both expansion and long-term customer satisfaction.
In this role, you will prioritize daily efforts that optimize performance and drive value for your customers. Working closely with cross-functional teams, including Product, Support, and Customer Onboarding, you'll share field insights to ensure Halter's technology continues to meet the needs of US farmers.
This role covers the Central region of Minnesota. Frequent travel is required as apart of this role.
What your day could look like
- Prospecting New Business: Driving up driveways, attending local cattle auctions, meeting with local Livestock, Cattlemen's, and Stockmen's associations, building your new business pipeline through outbound lead generation efforts. Fielding inbound leads in a timely manner, prioritizing administrative tasks with your in-field activities.
- In-Field Sales: Helping potential customers on the ranch before diving into the value of Halter, including demonstrations in the horse saddle, on a side-by-side, or over coffee at a kitchen table.
- Expanding Existing Opportunities: Expanding existing customer relationships with Halter and finding new ways to increase value over time.
- Hitting Sales Targets: Managing a high-growth pipeline, qualifying and unqualifying leads, and managing today's deals while keeping next month in sight.
- Customer Account Management: Maintaining close relationships with customers to ensure ongoing satisfaction, providing support, addressing challenges with Halter's products, and ensuring a smooth handoff from sales to customer onboarding.
- Territory Ownership: Owning an entire territory, meeting with high-level stakeholders from local, state, and federal agencies, and building lasting relationships with regional agricultural groups.
- Customer Onboarding: Owning the end-to-end customer experience during onboarding and deployment of Halter's product, even after handing off the customer to other teams.
- Field Learnings & Feedback: Serving as the primary point of contact for gathering customer feedback in your territory and advocating for what customers need.
- Collaborating with Support Teams: Seeking out partners across Halter to resolve customer issues quickly and escalating problems as needed.
- Attending Industry Events: Generating leads and deepening relationships at industry and Halter events, including demonstrations and networking.
- Contributing to the US Sales Strategy: Working with the broader team to optimize and evolve the sales process so it fits the US market.
You'll be great if you exhibit
- Driven Attitude & Communication skills: Results-driven, motivated, and adaptable, with the ability to excel in high-stakes environments and communicate well with customers and internal teams.
- Ranching / Cattle Experience: Understanding of ranching or cattle operations and their unique challenges.
- Sales & Customer Success Expertise: A strong history of creating new business opportunities, negotiating value-based sales conversations, and building lasting customer relationships, including upsell expansion.
- Territory Management experience: Experience managing a large territory with a balanced focus on sales and customer success, ideally within agriculture or technology.
- Problem Solving & Collaboration ability: Resourceful and quick-thinking, working well with cross-functional teams to address challenges and drive solutions.
