About the role
About the role
Crunchyroll is looking for a Director, Membership & Operational Planning to turn our Membership strategy and growth targets into a clear, executable plan.
Reporting to the VP, Membership Performance, you will own the bottom-up plan across the Membership business — connecting business performance, growth initiatives, investments, timing, dependencies, and expected impact. You’ll work across Strategy, Growth, Marketing, Lifecycle, Product, Engineering, Business Development, Finance, Data & Insights, Lines of Business, and Regional teams to make sure priorities are aligned and plans translate into action.
This is a highly cross-functional role for someone who combines strong commercial and analytical thinking with the ability to bring structure to complex work, make trade-offs clear, and keep teams moving toward shared business goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the Membership bottom-up plan across initiatives, markets, business levers, investments, timing, owners, dependencies, and expected impact.
- Translate long-term strategy and high-level targets into actionable annual and multi-year plans across acquisition, conversion, retention, monetization, member value, and growth.
- Lead Membership planning cycles, coordinating inputs and priorities across Finance, Growth, Marketing, Lifecycle, Product, Engineering, Data & Insights, Business Development, Lines of Business, and Regional teams.
- Build scenarios to understand the impact of different investments, timing, market conditions, content plans, product dependencies, and business performance.
- Partner closely with Finance on assumptions, investment planning, budget tracking, and plan-versus-actual performance.
- Maintain the portfolio of Membership initiatives, ensuring clear ownership, milestones, success measures, resource needs, and expected business impact.
- Surface risks, dependencies, and trade-offs early and help leaders make clear decisions on priorities and investment.
- Lead Membership operating rhythms, including initiative tracking, QBRs, executive business reviews, and plan-versus-actual reporting.
- Turn complex business inputs into clear executive updates, recommendations, and decision materials.
- Build planning tools, standards, and processes that improve accountability and decision-making without adding unnecessary process.
- Connect teams across functions and regions, clarify ownership and decision rights, and help move complex initiatives forward.
We are considering applicants available to work a hybrid schedule, with three days each week onsite at our Dallas office.
About You
- 12+ years in growth planning, strategy and operations, commercial planning, business operations, financial planning, management consulting, or a related field.
- Track record of translating business strategy and growth targets into detailed operating plans, with clear initiatives, investments, owners, milestones, dependencies, and expected impact.
- Strong background in business planning, forecasting, scenario modeling, investment decisions, KPI reporting, and plan-versus-actual analysis.
- Background in a consumer-facing business, ideally subscription, streaming, digital media, entertainment, gaming, marketplace, or another B2C platform.
- Strong commercial and financial judgment, with the ability to connect business performance to priorities and investment decisions.
- Able to work effectively across Finance, Marketing/Growth, Product, Engineering, Data/Analytics, and regional or market teams.
- Proven ability to influence senior leaders and drive accountability across teams without direct authority.
- Strong executive communication skills, with the ability to turn complex information into clear recommendations and decisions.
- Comfortable working through ambiguity, changing priorities, and competing demands in a global, matrixed organization.
- Management consulting or strategy and operations experience is a plus.
- MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.
- Passion for anime, entertainment, or fandom is a plus.
