The Role

We're hiring a Forward Deployed Engineer for a new AI native product within Whatfix Labs and another product in stealth. You'll engage directly with customers, find the use case, build it on the products, and own the outcome through pilot into production.

What You'll Do

• Own end-to-end delivery for multiple enterprise accounts at a time: discovery, building custom demos, scoping POC/Pilot success criteria, building the automation, running evals, and driving go-live.
• Work directly with customers to map workflows and translate SOPs into prompts, just-in-time context, and configurations (incl. unattended mode) and integrations with customers tech infrastructure.
• Visualize and map how the products interact with various third-party enterprise applications, design end-to-end data and information flows, and build mitigation strategies for multi-system integration bottlenecks.
• Build eval suites and fix gaps to establish accuracy and determinism before sign-off.
• Debug failures, iterate on just in time context and prompts, and tune the automation until it's production-ready.
• After sign-off, validate in the customer's production environment, track usage and success, and resolve gaps post-go-live.
• Configure the product's tooling end to end: set up MCP servers and connectors, define and orchestrate tool calls, and engineer just-in-time context.
• Write and iterate the prompts, instructions, and structured context that drive the automation.
• Design and run eval suites that measure accuracy, determinism, and edge-case handling, and use eval results to gate readiness for sign-off.
• Travel to customer sites in the US/EU as needed, in addition to late-evening calls across time zones.
• Contribute reusable assets such as use cases, prompts, templates, and integrations back to the pod's shared playbook.
• Help stand up repeatable 0 to 1 automation patterns and replicate them across your accounts.
• Maintain a clear project tracker for your accounts and flag capability gaps to the FDE Lead and Product team.
• Represent the products in customer-facing demos and workshops.

What We're Looking For

• 4+ years in a customer-facing technical role: forward-deployed engineering, solutions engineering, or implementation consulting with enterprise software/SaaS.
• Proven ability to scope ambiguous customer problems into a working solution fast, with minimal hand-holding.
• Comfortable being hands-on with prompts, automation logic, and debugging.
• Strong communication with both customers and internal stakeholders.
• Strong systems thinking mindset. Exposure to AI agents, RPA, or workflow automation is a strong plus; familiarity with enterprise applications (SAP Ariba, Salesforce, D365, SuccessFactors) is a plus.
• Experience designing testing architectures that simulate multi-system workflows to validate accuracy, error handling, and edge cases.
• Hands-on applied-AI skills: writing effective prompts and context, configuring MCP servers, wiring tool/function calls, and building evals for LLM-driven automations. Deep ML or model-training experience is not required.
• A genuine engineering foundation is required, as this is a ~50:50 engineering and customer-facing role.
• Comfort reasoning about non-determinism, failure modes, and guardrails when moving an LLM/agent workflow toward production reliability.
• Comfortable with ambiguity, as this is a new role we are actively shaping with the market.

What Success Looks Like

• Quickly ship demos and solutions to convert customers to pilots and full license.
• Pilots and go-lives consistently hit success criteria for converting accounts to paid.
