Business Systems Analyst

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Business Systems Analyst (BSA) with strong functional knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management and Finance & Operations modules.

The primary responsibility will be to evaluate business requirements provided by business users, assess them against standard D365 capabilities, and recommend the most appropriate solution. The candidate should be able to determine whether a requirement can be fulfilled through existing product functionality, system configuration, administrative settings, or whether customization or technical development is necessary.

The role requires someone who can act as a bridge between business users and technical teams, ensuring that solutions are aligned with business needs while maximizing the use of standard D365 capabilities and minimizing unnecessary customizations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Business Requirement Analysis and Validation

• Engage with business users to understand, analyze, and validate business requirements.
• Review business requirements and assess their feasibility within the existing D365 environment.
• Challenge requirements where appropriate and identify opportunities to leverage existing system capabilities.
• Clarify business scenarios, process expectations, exceptions, and desired outcomes.
• Identify gaps between current D365 functionality and business requirements.
• Document functional requirements, assumptions, dependencies, and acceptance criteria.

2. Fit-Gap Analysis and Solution Assessment

• Perform detailed fit-gap analysis to evaluate business requirements against standard D365 SCM and F&O capabilities.
• Determine whether requirements can be addressed through:
  • Existing standard D365 functionality.
  • Functional configurations and parameter settings.
  • Administrative settings, security roles, and access controls.
  • Workflows, business rules, and system setup.
  • Existing reports, data entities, and integration capabilities.
• Recommend the most appropriate solution based on business needs, implementation effort, cost, complexity, maintainability, and upgrade impact.
• Identify instances where business process changes or better utilization of existing D365 features can eliminate the need for custom development.
• Provide clear justification whenever customization is recommended.

3. D365 Supply Chain Management (SCM)

• Strong functional understanding of D365 SCM modules.
• Validate business requirements against standard D365 Finance capabilities and configuration options.
• Identify opportunities to address requirements through system setup, parameters, workflows, and administrative settings.

4. D365 Finance & Operations (F&O)

• Knowledge of D365 Finance modules and related business processes.
• Understand dependencies and integration points between Finance and SCM modules.
• Validate business requirements against standard D365 Finance capabilities and configuration options.
• Identify opportunities to address requirements through system setup, parameters, workflows, and administrative settings.

Required Skills and Experience

• 10+ years of experience working with Microsoft Dynamics AX / Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations.
• Strong functional knowledge of D365 Supply Chain Management and working knowledge of Finance modules, or vice versa.
• Hands-on experience in analyzing business requirements and performing fit-gap assessments.
• Ability to independently identify whether a requirement can be addressed through standard functionality, configurations, administrative settings, workflows, or customization.
• Good understanding of D365 module configurations, parameters, workflows, security, and system administration options.
• Experience in preparing functional specifications, solution assessments, process flows, and requirement documentation.
• Ability to work closely with business users, functional consultants, developers, and solution architects.
• Understanding of D365 technical capabilities, including X++, extensions, data entities, APIs, and integrations.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Microsoft certifications such as MB-330 (Supply Chain Management Functional Consultant) or MB-310 (Finance Functional Consultant).
• Experience in D365 implementation, enhancement, optimisation, or application support projects.
• Exposure to Agile delivery methodologies and tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps.
• Experience working with distributed business and technical teams.
