Application Developer

Overview of the role

The role involves leading engineering teams, driving development standards, designing microservices and APIs, and ensuring the reliability, performance, and maintainability of modern software applications.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Lead teams in designing, developing, and delivering high-quality products and web applications.
• Design, build, and maintain scalable APIs, microservices, services, and distributed systems.
• Develop clean, modular, and maintainable code using modern technologies, including Node.js with Fastify.
• Write and maintain unit and integration tests to ensure application quality, robustness, and reliability.
• Measure, monitor, and improve the performance of microservices and distributed applications.
• Conduct code reviews and promote pair programming to maintain high development standards.
• Investigate operational issues, identify root causes, and implement appropriate improvements.
• Design and optimise database schemas and queries across relational and non-relational databases.
• Apply expertise in PostgreSQL, Redis, SQL, and NoSQL databases, including query optimisation and performance tuning.
• Apply physical and logical data modelling principles to build scalable and efficient data solutions.
• Collaborate effectively with globally dispersed teams and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Build high-performing engineering teams through mentoring, coaching, and continuous technical development.
• Support team members in their technical and career growth while maintaining strong engineering practices.
• Communicate technical concepts effectively through discussions, presentations, and documentation.

Desired Skills/Background

• B.Tech/B.E/MCA/M.Tech in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 5+ years of relevant software development experience, including experience in leading technical teams.
• Strong expertise in web application development and highly scalable distributed systems.
• Hands-on experience with Node.js, preferably using the Fastify framework.
• Strong knowledge of microservices architecture and API development.
• Good working knowledge of PostgreSQL, Redis, SQL, and NoSQL databases.
• Experience with relational and non-relational databases, schema design, query optimisation, and performance tuning.
• Comprehensive understanding of physical and logical data modelling.
• Sound knowledge of IT and application software.
• Experience in unit testing, integration testing, debugging, and production issue resolution.
• Strong leadership, mentoring, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with globally distributed teams.
• Excellent communication skills in Hindi and English.
• Certification from a leading OEM is preferred.
