Let’s connect and explore the possibilities of having you onboard the Prolifics team!\n\nRole Summary\nWe are seeking an experienced Data Engineer / Data Engineering Lead with strong expertise in Snowflake, SQL, and data modeling to support a business rules modernization initiative. The primary responsibility is to analyze, refactor, and optimize existing Snowflake SQL stored procedures, while designing a scalable database architecture for the Rules Catalog and Audit Repository. The role requires close collaboration with Drools, Camunda, business analysts, and application development teams throughout the project lifecycle.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n1. Snowflake SQL Analysis & Refactoring (Primary Focus – Wave 1)\n- Analyze existing Snowflake SQL stored procedures to understand business logic, data transformations, and dependencies.\n- Refactor and optimize stored procedures for improved maintainability, readability, and performance.\n- Document the existing and target logic to support the rules modernization effort.\n- Work closely with business and technical teams to validate functional equivalence after refactoring.\n- Support migration of embedded business rules from SQL into the target rules engine where applicable.\n\n2. Data Modeling & Database Design\n- Design the logical and physical data model for the Rules Catalog repository.\n- Design Audit database tables to capture rule execution history, decision outcomes, versioning, and traceability.\n- Define relationships, indexing strategy, naming standards, and data governance considerations.\n- Ensure scalability, performance, and maintainability of the database design.\n\n3. Data Engineering & Integration\n- Develop and optimize SQL queries, views, stored procedures, and data pipelines.\n- Support integration between Snowflake, Drools, Camunda, and downstream applications.\n- Ensure data consistency, integrity, and performance across systems.\n- Assist in troubleshooting data-related issues during development and testing.\n\n4. Collaboration & Technical Leadership\n- Collaborate with architects, business analysts, rule authors, and application development teams.\n- Participate in technical design reviews and solution discussions.\n- Provide effort estimates, technical guidance, and best practices for data engineering activities.\n- Mentor junior engineers where required.\n\nRequired Skills\n- 8+ years of experience in Data Engineering or Database Development.\n- Strong expertise in Snowflake SQL, stored procedures, and query optimization.\n- Experience analyzing and refactoring complex legacy SQL code.\n- Strong database design and data modeling skills (logical and physical models).\n- Experience with data warehousing concepts, ETL/ELT processes, and data governance.\n- Strong SQL performance tuning and troubleshooting skills.\n- Familiarity with cloud data platforms and modern data architectures.\n- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.\n\nPreferred Skills\n- Experience with Drools, Camunda, or Business Rules Management Systems (BRMS).\n- Python scripting for automation and data processing.\n- Experience with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Codex or similar).\n- Knowledge of CI/CD, Git, and Agile delivery practices.\n- Experience with data lineage, audit frameworks, and metadata management.\n\nProject Focus\n- Refactor and optimize existing Snowflake SQL stored procedures.\n- Design and implement the Rules Catalog database.\n- Design and implement the Audit database to support rule execution tracking and compliance.\n- Enable a scalable, maintainable data foundation for the Rules Modernization Program.
