Job Description
About the Role
We are looking for a Robotics Developer with hands-on experience in ROS-based software development, system integration, and robot-facing user interfaces.
The candidate will work on migrating and maintaining ROS applications, developing tools and dashboards for robot operation, and supporting general robotics software development and deployment.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain ROS 1 and ROS 2 packages using C++ and Python.
- Support migration between ROS versions, Ubuntu versions, and embedded computing platforms.
- Update launch files, dependencies, build systems, and third-party ROS packages.
- Build web-based or desktop user interfaces for robot monitoring, configuration, diagnostics, and control.
- Integrate sensors, actuators, navigation modules, and hardware drivers.
- Debug ROS topics, services, actions, TF, parameters, and communication issues.
- Deploy and maintain ROS applications using Linux, Docker, and systemd.
- Develop basic robot behaviours, diagnostics, watchdogs, and developer tools.
- Test software on physical robots and support field troubleshooting.
- Maintain technical documentation and follow standard Git-based development workflows.
Required Skills:
- Strong programming skills in C++ and Python.
- Practical experience with ROS 1, ROS 2, or both.
- Good understanding of ROS topics, services, actions, TF, launch files, and package development.
- Experience with Linux, Git, CMake, and debugging.
- Experience integrating software with sensors or robot hardware.
- Ability to understand and modify existing robotics codebases.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with ROS migration or ROS 1 to ROS 2 migration.
- Experience with Catkin, Colcon, and Ament.
- Familiarity with Docker and NVIDIA Jetson platforms.
- Experience developing ROS-based web dashboards using React, JavaScript, WebSockets, rosbridge, or REST APIs.
- Familiarity with RViz, RQT, URDF, rosbag, navigation, localization, and sensor drivers.
- Exposure to CI/CD, system monitoring, and remote robot deployment.
