Who You Are
You are an early-career full stack engineer who is curious, eager to learn, and excited to build software that helps keep people safe. You're building a strong foundation across frontend and backend technologies, and you're looking for a team that will invest in your growth while giving you real ownership of meaningful work.
Responsibilities
- Feature Development: Build and ship well-tested features across the frontend and backend, with guidance and support from senior engineers
- Collaboration: Work closely with Product Managers, Designers, and other Engineers in an agile environment to deliver features and enhancements
- Code Quality: Write clean, readable, and tested code; participate actively in code reviews and incorporate feedback
- Learning & Growth: Ramp up quickly on Ontic's tech stack and domain, and seek out feedback and mentorship to accelerate your development
- Debugging & Troubleshooting: Investigate and resolve bugs and issues, escalating and collaborating with senior engineers as needed
- Participation: Contribute ideas and perspective in technical design discussions for the features you work on
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
- 0–2 years of professional, internship, or project experience in software engineering, with exposure to both backend and frontend development
- Some familiarity with Java, Spring Boot, and database technologies such as MongoDB (coursework, internship, or project experience is welcome)
- Basic understanding of RESTful APIs
- Working knowledge of JavaScript, HTML/CSS, and React fundamentals
- Exposure to modern JS tooling (npm/Webpack) and a willingness to grow into TypeScript, state management (Redux/Zustand/React Query), and testing (Jest)
- Solid foundational problem-solving and analytical ability
- Understanding of Git and collaborative development workflows
- Familiarity with, or interest in learning, CI/CD and cloud environments (AWS/GCP/Azure)
