Director of Engineering

About the Role

We’re looking for a Director of Engineering to lead and scale a high-performing engineering team, drive technical excellence, and partner closely with Product and business leadership to deliver impactful products.

What You’ll Do

• Lead, mentor, and grow engineering teams while building a culture of ownership, accountability, and high performance.

• Manage and lead a team of 5–10 engineers, providing clear direction, mentorship, and performance guidance.

• Own engineering execution across planning, prioritisation, timelines, quality, and delivery.

• Partner closely with Product to understand business priorities, make technical estimates, and drive effective trade-offs.

• Define and guide system architecture, HLD, scalability, performance, reliability, and engineering standards.

• Solve complex technical and organizational problems and unblock teams effectively.

• Drive improvements across SDLC, development practices, code quality, testing, and engineering efficiency.

• Communicate clearly with engineering, product, and other stakeholders to create alignment.

• Champion a strong bias for action, customer focus, and continuous improvement.

What We’re Looking For

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with significant engineering leadership/people management experience.

• Proven experience managing teams of 5–10 engineers.

• Strong backend engineering experience and deep understanding of large-scale systems.

• Strong HLD, system design, and architectural trade-off expertise.

• Strong project and execution management skills.

• Good product understanding with the ability to prioritize and make pragmatic technical decisions.

• Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

• B.E /B tech in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field from a well-reputed institute
