About the role
Liminal is the intelligence platform for the people building and buying the technology that keeps the digital economy safe. Our platform delivers AI-powered solutions that empower customers to assess, interpret, and respond to global market shifts, critical events, and regulatory developments.
We're a Series A company of about 70 people, with teams in New York, Salt Lake City, Porto, Lisbon, and Manila. We were recently named top 11% on the 2026 Inc. 5000 (No. 6 in Business Products & Services).
At this size, you don't wait years to get real responsibility. People here are running projects, owning relationships, and shaping how things get built much earlier than they would at a larger company.
About the role
In this role, you take full responsibility for a workstream, guiding it from the initial question all the way to the final answer. Moving up from Associate is less about doing more work and more about using your judgment. You decide what the analysis means, document your conclusions, and present them to the client.
You will begin managing Associates on your workstream. Each engagement includes a senior executive sponsor and a practice leader, so you will gain early client exposure with strong support.
What you'll do
- You will manage a workstream from start to finish, including defining the question, choosing the method, conducting the analysis, writing the answer, and defending your conclusions.
- You will oversee one or two Associates, set the approach for their work, review their output, and help them improve.
- You will be responsible for a section of the client deliverable, including recommendations and supporting evidence.
- You will handle challenging tasks such as war game rounds, buyer interview programs, and diligence workstreams, with only light supervision.
- You will be the main point of contact for the client's team between formal meetings.
- You will review our data critically, adapt platform insights to each engagement, and flag when the standard answer does not fit the client's needs.
- You will bring related client problems to the team's attention.
What success looks like
In your first 30 days, you will become familiar with our platform and terminology, work on two active projects, and take responsibility for part of the solution on one of them.
By 90 days, you will manage entire workstreams, set the approach, guide Associates, and deliver your sections to the client with only a review from your Manager.
By the end of your first year, you will have led workstreams in at least three types of engagements, run a client session independently, and identified at least one follow-up opportunity that turned into a real project.
What we're looking for
- At least four years of experience in management consulting, strategy consulting, investment banking, corporate strategy, or a similar field, including at least one role where you managed a workstream and made recommendations.
- Experience providing answers in meetings rather than just taking notes.
- Ability to quickly turn an unclear brief into a clear plan, usually within a day.
- Skilled in PowerPoint, Excel, and Google Workspace, able to build reliable models and create concise presentations.
- Use of AI tools in your work, with clear views on when they are helpful and when they are not.
- Comfortable leading junior colleagues and helping them improve their work.
- A real interest in identity, fraud, financial crime, cybersecurity, and related regulations.
Nice to have
Work at MBB, LEK, Parthenon, Monitor Deloitte, a Big 4 strategy practice, or a strong boutique. Experience in M&A, corporate development, or investment analysis. Prior work with identity, fraud, cybersecurity, or financial services. Experience mentoring junior consultants, deep knowledge of a market, or building prompt chains or agent workflows.
How we work
We work in a hybrid model: four days in the office (Monday through Thursday), with Fridays optional and flexible between work from home, the office, or a client site. This is an in-person team because workshops, war games, and collaboration happen faster together.
We have nine guiding principles. Four are especially important for this role: Operate Like an Owner, Be Brief, Be Bright, Be Gone, Solve, Don't Just Spot, and Integrity Is Non-Negotiable.
Compensation
The base salary ranges from $145,000 to $175,000, with a target bonus of 15% and equity. Full benefits are included.
