Job Description
Senior Full Stack React Native Developer
We're looking for a Senior Full Stack React Native Developer who can own mobile app development end to end - from architecture and coding through to App Store and Play Store deployment — for both Android and iOS. You'll be the primary (or founding) mobile engineer, so you should be comfortable working with minimal hand-holding, making architectural calls, and also contributing on the backend/API side where needed to keep the mobile experience unblocked.
This is a hands-on, high-ownership role, not a pure specialist seat — you'll work closely with product, clinical operations, and our CRM/backend engineering functions.
What You'll Do
- Own the full lifecycle of our React Native mobile apps — architecture, development, testing, release, and post-launch support — across iOS and Android from a single codebase where practical.
- Design and build patient-, caregiver-, and field-clinician-facing app experiences: scheduling, visit tracking, vitals/care updates, notifications, and similar home-care workflows.
- Build and consume APIs that connect the mobile app to backend systems, including our CRM (Zoho, with Deluge-scripted workflows) and our clinical/EMR backend (Medplum, FHIR-based), so patient and visit data flow cleanly between systems.
- Handle end-to-end deployment: app signing, provisioning, CI/CD pipelines, App Store and Google Play submission, versioning, and release management.
- Implement secure handling of clinical and personal data on-device and in transit, in line with healthcare data-privacy expectations.
- Own app performance, crash-free rates, offline behaviour, and sync reliability — home-care usage often means patchy connectivity in the field.
- Set up and maintain testing practices (unit, integration, and device testing across OS versions/screen sizes) and basic monitoring/analytics (crash reporting, usage tracking).
- Collaborate directly with founders/leadership on product decisions, given the flat structure of the team.
- Mentor junior developers as the mobile team grows.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of professional software development experience, with 3+ years building and shipping production React Native apps on both iOS and Android.
- Proven track record of taking at least one app through full deployment — App Store/Play Store submission, review process, and post-launch releases — not just development in a sandbox.
- Strong JavaScript/TypeScript fundamentals, with solid understanding of native modules/bridging when React Native alone isn't enough.
- Full-stack capability: comfortable building or integrating REST/GraphQL APIs and working with a backend (Node.js preferred, but adaptable).
- Experience with CI/CD for mobile (Fastlane, EAS, App Center, or similar) and release/versioning discipline.
- Familiarity with mobile security and data-privacy practices; healthcare or other regulated-data experience is a strong plus.
- Comfortable working with third-party/CRM integrations and, ideally, some exposure to FHIR/HL7 or EMR-adjacent systems (not mandatory, but valuable given our stack).
- Startup/scale-up mindset: able to work independently, prioritize pragmatically, and move fast without sacrificing code quality.
- Strong communication skills — this role works directly with leadership and cross-functional teams, not just other engineers.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Expo (managed or bare workflow).
- Exposure to offline-first app architecture and data sync strategies.
- Prior experience in healthcare, home care, or another operationally complex, field-force-driven business.
- Experience setting up a mobile app from zero to one (greenfield build).
Why Join
- High-ownership role with direct influence on product and architecture decisions from day one.
- Work on technology that has a direct, tangible impact on patient care.
- Close collaboration with senior leadership across business and technology.
- Opportunity to shape the mobile engineering practice as the team scales.
