About the role
Hammerspace is a fast-growing technology company on a mission to transform how organizations manage, store, and use data for AI. We're building a new class of data infrastructure that unifies data across storage systems, data centers, and clouds, making it instantly accessible to AI, applications, and users wherever they operate.
The Hammerspace Data System combines high-performance parallel storage, intelligent data management, and automated data orchestration to eliminate data silos and unlock the full potential of enterprise data. We're tackling some of the biggest challenges in AI infrastructure, helping the world's most demanding organizations put their data to work.
We are seeking a cleared Professional Services Engineer to deploy, configure, and optimize our AI Data Platform software within highly secure federal and defense environments. In this role, you will bridge the gap between our cutting-edge decentralized data storage technology and critical government infrastructure, ensuring seamless data orchestration, migration, and access across multi-cloud and hybrid environments.

- Custom Integration: Develop specialized hooks, API integrations, and automation scripts (primarily in Python or Bash) to align Hammerspace with unique customer workflows and infrastructure.
- Technical Consultation: Act as the trusted subject matter expert on secure networking, metadata management, and cross-domain data movement for defense and intelligence agencies.
- Troubleshooting & Escalation: Diagnose and resolve complex storage, network performance, and Linux-based system bottlenecks on-site and in real-time.
Required Qualifications:
- Active Security Clearance: Must hold a current, verifiable TS clearance.
- Experience: 5+ years in professional services, enterprise storage engineering, or systems architecture.
- Storage Systems Expertise: Deep understanding of file protocols (NFSv3/v4, SMB) and object storage systems (S3).
- Linux Proficiency: Expert-level administration skills in Linux environments (RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu), including kernel parameters, networking stacks, and performance tuning.
- Automation & Scripting: Strong programming proficiency in Python, Go, or advanced Bash scripting for infrastructure automation.
- Infrastructure Knowledge: Hands-on experience with networking (DNS, routing, firewalls) and virtualization/containerization technologies (VMware, Kubernetes, Docker).
- Familiar with Infiniband, RDMA/RoCE networking technologies
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with parallel file systems (GPFS/Lustre) or scale-out NAS.
- Familiarity with public cloud federal environments (AWS GovCloud, Azure Government).
- Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), or CISSP.
Compensation and Benefits:
The anticipated compensation range for this role is $175,000-225,000. Actual compensation will be determined by several factors including, but not limited to, level of professional/education experience, skills/abilities, internal equity, and budgetary considerations.
