Design Engineer Intern

Role Overview\n\nWe\u2019re looking for a Design Engineering Intern to help shape, design, and build high-craft product experiences end to end.\nThis role sits at the intersection of product, design, and engineering. You\u2019ll contribute to key user-facing surfaces from early concept through final implementation, developing your product judgment, interaction design instincts, and frontend skills while working on problems that matter.\nThe ideal candidate is curious, high-ownership, and comfortable operating with some ambiguity. You don\u2019t need to have done this before at scale, but you should be able to take a product problem, reason through the UX, and start building. You\u2019ll also contribute to our design system and help establish reusable patterns that make the product better over time.\nThis is a high-impact internship for someone who wants real influence over what we build, how it works, and how it feels. You won\u2019t be doing busywork.\n\n### What You\u2019ll Do\n\n- Design and build polished, user-facing product experiences across core surfaces of the product.\n- Contribute to features end to end, from UX exploration through implementation and iteration, with guidance from the team.\n- Use layout, interaction design, and motion to make powerful workflows feel intuitive and fast.\n- Contribute to our design system, component library, and frontend patterns.\n- Work closely with product, design, and engineering to turn ambiguous ideas into simple, high-quality experiences.\n- Bring care and craft to the details: accessibility, performance, reliability, and edge cases.\n\n### What You Bring\n\n- Currently in your final year of study in design, computer science, or a related field.\n- Hands-on experience with TypeScript, React, and modern frontend development, through coursework, personal projects, or prior internships.\n- Some exposure to design systems, component libraries, or reusable frontend patterns.\n- Strong product intuition and an ability to make thoughtful UX decisions, even with limited guidance.\n- A portfolio or work samples that demonstrate both design sensibility and frontend execution.\n- Care for craft beyond the obvious: you sweat the details others miss.\n\n### Bonus Points\n\n- Experience with Tailwind CSS, Next.js, TanStack Query, or similar modern frontend tooling.\n- Familiarity with Figma or other design tools for exploring and communicating ideas.\n- Interest in developer tools, technical products, or AI-native products.\n- Any full-stack exposure, especially enough backend fluency to unblock your own product work.\n\n### Benefits\n\n- Highly competitive salary and meaningful equity\n- Generous paid time off: 24 days for SF employees and 20 days globally, use them as you need\n- $350/month wellness benefit to spend on gym, spa, equipment, or whatever keeps you at your best\n- 15 days of temporary remote work flexibility per year\n- 401k match up to 6%
