Job Description
What you'll do:
- Prepare, review, and support state and local sales, use, commercial activity, and other indirect tax returns.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly sales and use tax accruals and support related account reconciliations.
- Maintain taxability and product-mapping data in sales tax systems, including Avalara AvaTax.
- Prepare and submit responses to federal, state, and local tax notices in coordination with internal stakeholders and external advisors.
- Support tax audits by gathering documentation, preparing schedules, and tracking open items through resolution.
- Assist with U.S. federal, state, and international income tax compliance, including preparation of supporting workpapers and responses to information requests.
- Support the annual income tax provision process under ASC 740 by gathering data, preparing provision schedules and journal entries, reconciling tax accounts, and maintaining documentation.
- Assist with estimated tax payment analysis and review tax-related general ledger activity.
- Maintain organized, accurate, and review-ready tax workpapers and supporting documentation.
- Contribute to accounting and other tax-related special projects as needed.
What you've done:
- Earned a Chartered Accountant qualification or are a semi-qualified Chartered Accountant with a bachelor's degree in accounting.
- Gained approximately 3–6 years of progressive accounting and tax experience, including meaningful corporate tax experience.
- Developed experience with U.S. sales and use tax, income tax compliance, tax accounting, or a comparable combination of tax disciplines.
- Demonstrated strong Microsoft Excel skills, including experience working with large data sets, reconciliations, lookups, pivot tables, and supporting schedules.
- Worked with an enterprise resource planning or general ledger system; experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 is preferred.
- Supported tax compliance, provision, audit, notice-response, or reconciliation activities in a corporate, public accounting, or comparable environment.
