About the role
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain SQL Server databases, ensuring efficient data storage and retrieval.
- Write, optimize, and troubleshoot complex SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and triggers for performance improvements.
- Work closely with application developers to ensure seamless integration of database components with applications.
- Perform database tuning and optimization (PTO), including indexing strategies, query execution plans, and partitioning.
- Develop and maintain ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to facilitate data movement and transformation between systems.
- Implement database security best practices, including user authentication, role-based access control, and encryption.
- Monitor and analyze database performance, addressing bottlenecks and optimizing resource utilization.
- Design and implement backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and business continuity.
- Collaborate with data analysts and Product/business teams to support reporting and data visualization needs using SQL-based reporting tools.
- Maintain documentation of database structures, procedures, and best practices to ensure knowledge sharing and compliance.
- Ensure data quality and consistency across multiple environments, including Development, Staging, and Production.
- Develop and maintain data models, including logical and physical data design.
- Stay updated with the latest SQL Server features, best practices, and industry trends.
- Implement High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options such as failover clustering, database mirroring, log shipping, and replication.
- Manage user security, including logins, roles, and privileges to ensure data integrity and security compliance.
- Optional: Experience with Business Intelligence (BI) tools such as SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS for advanced analytics and reporting.
- Optional: Experience working in financial markets or similar data-intensive domains is an added advantage.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong expertise in SQL Server development, including T-SQL, query optimization, and stored procedures.
- Experience in database design, normalization, and data modeling.
- Knowledge of performance tuning techniques, indexing, and execution plan analysis.
- Familiarity with ETL tools and data warehousing concepts.
- Proficiency in working with version control tools such as Git.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot database-related issues.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
