Word Press Developer - Associate 1

Looking for an experienced WordPress / PHP Developer with at least 2 years of hands-on experience to manage, maintain, and optimize our custom-built WordPress website. Because our site is custom-developed (not built using generic drag-and-drop page builders), the candidate must possess strong core PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, and custom WordPress theme and plugin development skills. The candidate will be responsible for both back-end and front-end development, ensuring high performance, security, availability, and seamless UI/UX.

Key Responsibilities

• Site Maintenance & Custom Development
• Write clean, well-documented, and efficient PHP, HTML5, CSS3/SASS, and JavaScript code.
• Develop new custom functionalities, post types, taxonomies, and Gutenberg blocks as needed.
• Ensure code quality and consistency across all site templates and modules.

2. Performance & Speed Optimization

• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize website loading speeds (Core Web Vitals, GTmetrix, PageSpeed Insights).
• Implement and manage database optimization, object caching (Redis/Memcached), and server-level caching.
• Diagnose and resolve bottle-necks in database queries and PHP execution.

3. Security, Updates & Compliance

• Perform regular, safe core updates, plugin audits, and custom code refactoring.
• Implement robust security best practices (firewalls, malware scanning, hardening WP installations, input sanitization).
• Manage daily/weekly automated backups and maintain a working staging environment for testing changes before pushing live.

4. API Integration & Database Management

• Create, consume, and integrate RESTful APIs and 3rd-party services (e.g., CRM systems, payment gateways, marketing tools).
• Manage MySQL database structures, write custom SQL queries where needed, and ensure data integrity.

5. Collaboration & UI/UX Support

• Work alongside marketing, design, and content teams to build landing pages, custom layouts, and interactive elements.
• Ensure cross-browser compatibility and seamless responsiveness across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.

Required Skill Set & Technical Qualifications

• WordPress Core Expertise: Deep understanding of WordPress architecture, Template Hierarchy, Hooks (Actions & Filters), WP_Query, REST API, and Custom Post Types (CPTs).
• PHP Mastery: Strong experience with object-oriented PHP (PHP 7.4 / 8.x) without relying heavily on heavy third-party plugins or visual builders (e.g., Elementor/Divi).
• Front-End Development: Advanced skills in modern JavaScript (Vanilla JS / jQuery), HTML5, and CSS3 / SCSS / Tailwind CSS.
• Database Management: solid knowledge of MySQL, WP database schema, custom tables, and query optimization.
• Version Control: Experience using Git / GitHub / GitLab for code versioning and deployment workflows.
• Debugging & Security: Proficiency in using tools like Query Monitor, Chrome DevTools, and server error logs to diagnose and resolve bugs quickly.
• Server & Hosting: Basic understanding of Linux hosting environments, cPanel/Plesk, SSH, Nginx/Apache configuration, and DNS management
