Job Description
About the Role
We’re looking for a strategic and hands-on Senior People Business Partner to support Engineering, Product and Design. This role will partner closely with leaders to solve people and organizational challenges, strengthen manager effectiveness, and drive data-informed decisions across the employee lifecycle.
You’ll build relationships with the teams you support, identify issues before they become problems, and own work end to end. This is a role for someone comfortable operating across performance, compensation, retention, talent planning, employee relations, and organizational health without relying on layers of specialized teams. This is a hybrid role and requires 3 days per week in our Mountain View HQ. You’ll help shape our people strategy, support organizational growth, and deliver thoughtful, data-informed solutions that enhance the employee experience and drive business outcomes.
What You’ll Do
- Serve as a hands-on People partner to leaders across organizational design, talent planning, team effectiveness, and workforce decisions
- Coach managers on performance, feedback, career development, difficult conversations, and stronger day-to-day management practices
- Partner on compensation and equity planning, including reviews, allocation decisions, internal consistency, and standardization
- Use people data and business context to identify trends, risks, and opportunities across retention, performance, engagement, and talent
- Develop and support retention strategies for critical talent and teams
- Build strong relationships across the teams you support and proactively surface risks, opportunities, and organizational issues
- Work across People, Finance, Legal, Talent, and business teams to move work forward and resolve issues
- Build scalable processes that improve consistency, decision-making, and manager effectiveness
- Maintain strong judgment, discretion, and confidentiality in all people-related matters
What You Have
- 7+ years of progressive experience, including at least 3 years in a similar role
- Experience supporting senior leaders in a high-growth, fast-paced, or mid-size start-up environment
- Experienced with HR tools, automation, and AI, with the ability to build self-service resources, automate repeatable work, and create practical solutions that help managers move faster and operate more independently.
- Exceptional organizational and project planning skills, with the ability to get into the details, create structure, align stakeholders, and drive work through completion.
- Experience supporting and standardizing compensation, equity, performance, retention, talent management, and employee relations
- Strong manager coaching skills and the ability to raise and reinforce management standards
- Business acumen and the ability to use data to forecast problems and drive decisions
- A track record of owning ambiguous problems through resolution.
- Ability to operate independently, move quickly, and work across functions
- Strong communication, judgment, and influencing skills across levels
- Comfort moving between strategy, execution, and day-to-day problem solving
