About the role
Job Description
We are seeking a Mechanical New Product Introduction (NPI) Engineer who is passionate about driving products from concept to high volume manufacturing. In this role, you will collaborate closely with Engineering, Platform Design, Contract Manufacturing (CM) partners, and cross functional teams to ensure successful product launches. You will also design and develop tooling, test fixtures, and jigs to support scalable, high volume production.
Who You’ll Work With
As a Mechanical NPI Engineer, you will partner with Hardware, Mechanical, and Thermal Engineering leaders to advance product development, manufacturing readiness, and supplier strategy for high performance networking equipment. You will serve as a critical link between design, NPI, and full scale production, ensuring seamless transitions throughout the product lifecycle. You will collaborate with cross functional engineering teams, supplier management, and contract manufacturers to develop manufacturing processes, perform DFX reviews, manage product lifecycle activities, and provide sustaining support for Arista’s portfolio.
Your collaboration will extend to a broad supplier, including partners specializing in metals, plastics, die casting, high speed cables, air and liquid cooling thermal solutions, optics, fiber connectivity, and other electromechanical components essential to our products. You will also interface directly with customers as needed to support product integration and performance requirements
What You’ll Do
You will play a key role in bringing new products to market with a strong emphasis on manufacturability, reliability, efficiency, and quality. You will drive cross functional collaboration and provide technical leadership throughout the NPI process.
Job responsibilities:
- Lead NPI activities from prototype builds through production ramp, ensuring smooth transitions and high-quality outcomes.
- Develop and optimize manufacturing processes to support scalable, efficient, and repeatable production
- Apply strong electromechanical manufacturing expertise and drive DFM and Design for Cost improvements across mechanical and E/M components.
- Conduct root cause analysis for quality and process issues at contract manufacturers and suppliers, and drive effective corrective actions.
- Lead assembly process development to ensure high quality, efficient manufacturing workflows.
- Engage early with Hardware and Mechanical Engineering teams to identify risks, resolve build challenges, and improve yield, quality, and cost.
- Design and develop tooling, fixtures, and assembly aids to support high-volume manufacturing.
- Manage BOMs, Deviations, MCOs, and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) with strict version and revision control.
- Utilize PLM systems (Agile, Propel) to manage product lifecycle documentation and workflows.
- Support the full NPI lifecycle—from early prototyping through production release and sustaining.
- Drive data center equipment lifecycle management with a focus on manufacturability and long-term sustainability.
- Develop and implement best practices to enhance manufacturing efficiency, quality, and scalability.
- Collaborate with supply chain and procurement teams to ensure material readiness and supplier capability.
- Optimize inventory management to reduce waste and improve production throughput.
