OVERVIEW

We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to build and scale the foundational data platform that powers analytics, real-time decisioning, and operational intelligence across Alo.

This role is for an experienced builder who has delivered production-grade data systems across event ingestion, transformation, modeling, and serving and knows how to make them reusable, reliable, and scalable.

You will build and extend the batch and real-time systems teams rely on to ingest, process, and act on data, enabling marketing automation, inventory intelligence, and order fulfillment visibility.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Build and operate core components of the data platform, primarily on AWS
• Implement and scale event-driven pipelines using Kinesis, Kafka, or similar
• Develop and extend Medallion architecture (Bronze/Silver/Gold)
• Develop ELT pipelines using dbt and modern warehouses (Redshift, BigQuery)
• Support real-time marketing use cases (segmentation, triggers, personalization)
• Build data models and pipelines for inventory intelligence and allocation optimization
• Build pipelines for order lifecycle and SLA insights
• Apply and help improve standards for data modeling, testing, CI/CD, and observability
• Partner with cross-functional teams across business domains
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to code review and design discussions

QUALIFICATIONS

• Platforms & Infrastructure
  • Cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • Event-driven and streaming pipelines
  • CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code
• Data Engineering
  • dbt, SQL, Python
  • Batch and real-time pipelines
  • Medallion architecture
• Experience
  • 3-5+ years in data engineering or platform engineering
  • Experience working on large-scale data platforms
  • Retail/e-commerce experience preferred

The base salary range for this position is $140,000-$180,000 per year which represents the current range for the base salary for this exempt position. Please note that actual salaries will vary based on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. As such, on occasion and when applicable, there is the possibility that the final, agreed-upon base salary may be outside of the upper end of the range. Please also note the range listed is just one component of the company’s total rewards package for exempt employees. Other rewards may include performance bonuses, long term incentives, a PTO policy, and many other progressive benefits.
