Powered by SatelliteFirst Inspection & Monitoring, AiDASH delivers comprehensive visibility across the entire grid at the right frequency and budget, using the right data modality. More than 200 customers trust AiDASH to keep the lights on, spend where it counts, and defend every decision.

The Role:
Our satellite and AI-powered products are changing how utilities see and protect the grid, and we're gearing up for aggressive customer growth over the next two years. We're hiring two Backend Software Engineering Interns in Palo Alto to help build the backend systems behind that growth.
This is a real engineering internship, not a sandbox project. You'll own scoped backend work that ships to production, with day-to-day mentorship from a senior engineer who will review your code, pair with you on design, and help you grow fast. Strong performers will be considered for a full-time return offer.
Our pending acquisition by Schneider Electric will accelerate our mission as we bring our combined offering to our joint customer base, and the work you do will reach customers at an even greater scale.
Location: This is a hybrid internship based in Palo Alto, CA, requiring [X] days per week in the office.
How you'll make an impact:
- Build
- Design, build, and test backend services and APIs in Java or Python
- Own a scoped project end to end, from design doc to production
- Work with data pipelines that process satellite, sensor, and operational data at scale
- Engineer well
- Write clean, tested, well-documented code and take part in code reviews
- Use AI coding tools thoughtfully to move faster without cutting corners on quality
- Debug issues across services and learn how production systems behave under real load
- Learn and contribute
- Be curious, seek feedback early, and act on it
- Partner with engineers across teams to understand how your work fits the bigger platform
- Present your work to the engineering team at the end of the internship
What success looks like by the end of your internship:
- Your project is shipped to production, or production-ready and documented
- Your code has passed review and is running in real customer workflows
- You can clearly explain the design choices and trade-offs behind your work
- Your mentor and team see you as someone they want back full-time
What we're looking for:
Minimum Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a BS or MS in Computer Science or a closely related field
- At least one serious project or prior internship you can go deep on: the problem, your design choices, the trade-offs, and what you'd change
- Solid programming skills in Java or Python, and curiosity about other languages
- Strong Computer Science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design
- You learn quickly, ask good questions, and use AI tools well
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to REST APIs, SQL or NoSQL databases, or cloud platforms (AWS preferred)
- Experience with Git, unit testing, and CI workflows
- Interest in geospatial data, climate, energy, or infrastructure
- Open-source contributions, hackathon projects, or a public GitHub you're proud of
We are proud to be an equal-opportunity employer. We are committed to embracing diversity and inclusion in our hiring practices, and we promote a work environment where everyone, from any race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, or national origin, can do their best work.
We are committed to providing an inclusive and accessible interview experience for all candidates. Please let us know if you require any accommodation during the interview process, and we will make every effort to meet your needs.
